Greenville, South Carolina Marine Product Design Engineer

Location: Greenville, SC
Pay Rate: 100 – 150K 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, with at least five (5) years of experience.
  • Proficiency in manufacturing processes like milling, turning, diecasting, urethane molding, injection molding, and plating.
  • Familiarity with materials such as steel, brass, aluminum, and plastics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and troubleshooting ability.
  • Demonstrated capability to design new products using existing or emerging technologies.
  • Effective collaboration within cross-functional teams.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds.
  • Vision abilities including close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus.

Responsibilities:

  • Design small mechanical and electromechanical mechanisms with precise tolerances and provide accurate cost estimates.
  • Enhance existing product functionality, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Create accurate 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Develop designs considering manufacturing processes and capabilities.
  • Manage multiple projects while designing and developing products.
  • Collaborate with Materials, Quality, and Manufacturing to meet cost and quality goals.
  • Partner with Sales to identify and offer solutions for new opportunities.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, with a minimum of five (5) years of experience.
  • Proficiency in manufacturing processes, including milling, turning, diecasting, urethane molding, injection molding, and plating.
  • Familiarity with materials such as steel, brass, aluminum, and plastics.
  • Knowledge or experience in magnetic or electromagnetic fields is advantageous.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and troubleshooting ability.
  • Proven track record of designing new products using existing or emerging technologies.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Self-driven and capable of working independently.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Physical demands may include standing, sitting, using hands, reaching, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, talking, and hearing.
  • Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds may be required.
  • Vision abilities needed include close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus.
  • Work environment includes both office and manufacturing floor settings.
